Steps to Prepare Your Fridge or Freezer Before Moving It 

Step 1: Get your fridge measurement

Measure the width, height and depth of the fridge before moving day to ensure a smooth moving experience through the doors.

Step 2: Clearing all of old fridge contents

Dispose of all the fridge contents, especially the leftovers and so on. You may give away or use up all of the fridge content.

Step 3: Plugged out and defrost the fridge at least 24 hours before

After you have emptied your fridge, it’s time to clean it and defrost it. Plug out your fridge, and let it defrost for at least 24 hours. Once your fridge is fully defrost, you may continue to deep clean your fridge.

Step 4: Security on the fridge

Once you have cleaned your refrigerator, wrap the glass or plastic shelves and removable compartments with blankets or towels or bubble wrap to ensure there is no impact on them during the move. Once done, close the door with tape and moving strap, so that the door won’t be open during transition. 

Step 5: Cover the floor 

Protect your floor using towels or rubber mats to help you slide out your fridge which can be quite heavy.

Step 6: Load the fridge into the lorry

Once the refrigerator is out of your home, it is time for the movers to load the fridge onto the lorry. Ensure to double check that your fridge is wrapped tightly with moving straps. Once done, cover your fridge with blankets and place it in a safe spot to avoid too much movement during transportation.
